EXAMINING THE EXPECTATIONS OF PARENTS FOR PRESCHOOL EDUCATION (SAMPLE OF ELAZIG PROVINCE)

Abstract

The general and basis aim of pre-school education is to make children ready for scholl by meeting the needs of children between 0-6 in terms of cure and protection and by providing their progress in the field of psychomotor, mental and socioemotional. The expectations of parents wanting their children to have a qualified education should be corried out within this scope and a qualified pre-school education institution should also have an equipment in such a manner that will meet this expectation if the extent to which the parents’ expectations are to be met, their current attitudes for pre-school education and motivations for active family participation will increase. The aim of this research is to find out the expectations of the children’s parents from the educational instution that have an crucial impact on the chıldren and whether these expectation are met by the educational institution or not. The pupulation of the study of the schools in National Education Directorate and parent of students in pre-school of Elazığ city center in 2015-2016 academic year form the sample of the study. In the scope of the study, 900 questionnaires were sent to the parents and due to the didn’t taking 178 of them back 722 questionnaires were included in the analysis. The mean an standard deviation of the scores in the expectations of parents from pre-school survey were measured. One way analysis of variance(ANOVA) was used to identify the difference between survey total score and demographic information. In the analysis, significancy level was accepted to be p<0,05. It was found that the expectancy of the parents from pre-school was high. Besides significant differences between expectations of parents from pre-school education and demographic information were found, and these differences were demonstrated in the chart.
