Abstract

Turkey has made significant progress in the field of health since 2003, thanks to the health transformation program. Not only for Turkey but also for foreign countries, our country has become very attractive in terms of health services, because in Turkey, health services are offered cheaper and higher quality than other countries. Of course, in the realization of this progression, the share of the Gross Domestic Product allocated to the health sector and the health expenditures are also of great importance. The conceptual framework of health expenditures is briefly explained in the introduction part of the study. In other parts, statistics on health expenditures from 2003 to present in the Yearbook of Health Statistics published by the Ministry of Health in 2016 are analyzed. These statistics included topics such as health expenditures in our country by years, total health expenditure per capita in OECD countries and Turkey comparison, per capita health expenditures out-of-pocket payments, health expenditures by financing types and the relationship between health expenditures in our country and average life expectancy and infant mortality rates.
