Holmes’s article entitled ‘‘The Name and Nature of Translation Studies’’. After having begun his own theoretical and descriptive studies, Gideon Toury drew translation studies towards an interdisciplinary field with his book entitled In Search of a Theory of Translation (1980). Translation studies that draw from interdisciplinary studies have set up interaction fields with linguistics, pragmatics, sociology, textuality, hermeneutics, history, and literature in terms of both application and theory. On an interdisciplinary plane, this particular study determines, with cultural studies, the theoretical connections of translation studies per se, specifically in interaction with cultural studies as objective as well as procedural and functional factors per se. The method applied, in the first instance, examines and explains the theories and methods of both disciplines. Then, it seeks to determine the similarities of each discipline with regard to concept and function of both translation and cultural studies. After particular determinations are derived by way of a strict comparative study, the connection of the two disciplines is revealed in terms of historicity and interdisciplinarity. Hence, this study intends to offer data related to relevant parallelisms within a theoretical frame, by means of which new grounds open up ensuing discussion and research.},author={Gökhan Şefik ERKURT},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
