Abstract

Nevşehir and its provinces have become a place that emerges in social and cultural aspects as much as its political aspects throughout the history. Especially the region, known as Cappadocia, becomes effective fort he improving of the city. Ürgüp province, belonging to Nevşehir, which is located in Cappadocia region that is not similar to the formation of a unique natural wonder draws attention with is historical texture. The architecture of the Turkish and İslamic period is quite crowded in the region. Sarıhıdır village is located on the shores of Kızılırmak River that passes through the provincial borders. It is 23 km. to the province centre and 16 km. to the city center. The old mosque of the village being built on the shore of Kızılırmak River resists the time. It is aimed to determine the place of Turkish – İslamic architecture and document it with this study which isn’t included in the records
