Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the relationships between using social networks and the emotional management skills of pre-service teachers. Several attitudes and tendencies related to using social networks were investigated to define their effects on emotional management skills. The research was design according to the relational screening model. The study sample included 435 students studying at Marmara University Ataturk Education Faculty. The participants of the research were 298 females and 137 males and their age range was 18-25. All participants have a blog and use the network at least 3 hours and more. The data were obtaining using emotional management skills scales, personal information questionnaire, and social network survey. The results showed that gender had a significant effect on emotional management skills. Moreover, spending time on social networking sites, using their real names in forums or web groups, and following or sharing personal videos online affected participants’ emotional management skills.
