At the beginning, as particible it’s function is to make verb nouns. About the usage of the suffix Muharrem Er-gin states that, after turning in to necessity suffix, usage of it as partisip in Ot-toman Turkish decreased, however it is common in Azerbaijan; but usage as necessity suffix is too low in Azerbaijan Turkish. On the contrary, in today's Azerbaijan Turkish, the use of this suffix for necessity mode is quite com-mon. It is not productive as partisip too, it is often used with certain words. In Azerbaijan Turkish grammar books, it is stated that three different structures, -mAlI, gerek + optativ suffix and -AsI, are used for necessity mode. However, apart from these, as in the case of Turkey Turkish, necessity is expressed also by various markers like -mAk gerek, -mAk lazım, mecburiyetinde kal-, mecbur ol-, lazım ol-, vacib ol- and gerek, lazım, mecbur, şert, vacib. In this study, the use of -mAlI suffix in Azerbaijan Turkish will be exemplified and necessity mode will be determined.},author={Ayfer AYTAÇ},year={2017},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
