Abstract

The root of the language problem in the Iraqi Turkmens dates back to the First World War. This problem has emerged as a problem of dictation in the works written in Turkish, especially after the Turkmens were deprived of education in the mother language. And it has been deeply influenced by many branches of art in Turkmen Literature. In particular, works written with prose art have received more attention than the negative effects of language problem, and the problem is seen more clearly in works of art. Turkmen intellectuals demanded the right to education in the mother language from all the governments in Iraq after the Ottoman Empire, in order to prevent the problem of spelling based on the prohibition of education in the mother language in the basic Turkmen regions. Particularly in 1921, while the preparations for the first constitution of Iraq were going on, the education request for the mother language in the third item of the specification submitted by the Turkmen intellectuals to the Kingdom Administration was not accepted by any government until 2003. The demand was accepted in the new constitution issued in 2004.
