Abstract

Through advertising, behaviors, attitudes, interests, likes and preferences of consumers are changed, strengthened and directed. The ad affects buying behavior by informing the consumer about the product. The advertising sector uses mass media such as television, radio, newspapers, magazines and the internet to reach consumers. Television is the most used advertising tool today because it is located in every home and makes it easier for consumers to reach. Generally, female sexuality and bodybuilding are the most used elements in television commercials to increase sales of products. In this study, "Doritos Fritos Shots" television commercial, which emphasizes much on female sexuality and body, has been investigated by semiotical method. "Doritos Fritos Shots" is a method of semantic analysis that is used to reveal the implicit messages and connotations behind verbal, visual, auditory, nonverbal codes, images, symbols and symbols in television advertisements and help to read the invisible meaning behind the visible meaning.
