In fact, historical textures are the most significant factors that form the urban identity. The characteristics of the urban texture play a key role in the identity of that particular city. Therefore, historical textures must be preserved, rehabilitated and kept as living places. In this study “Orta Mahalle” protected area was investigated by focusing on its cultural landscape values. Orta Mahalle also functions as a bridge between the past and the future with its unique architectural and traditional properties. For this purpose, analyses were conducted to determine the present condition of this area. External landscape components were analyzed under the three main sections which are structural, street and green texture. Visual analysis and site survey techniques were used during the data collection. Based on available data, current status and potential of the study area was documented. As a result, it is concluded that Orta Mahalle reflects the traditional landscape character of Trabzon city and should be preserved by applying protection-use balance principals.
