Abstract

The Saudi Arabia – led coalition forces composed of some Arab countries launched military intervention to the Yemeni civil war on the side of the Yemeni government in March 2015. A few days after this intervention, the Arab League (AL) countries agreed to form a “Joint Arab Military Force” (JAF) at the summit. This decision raised the question whether it would be a concrete step forwards, the Arab Union for those who yearned for. Considering all presently ongoing foreign interventions, regional tensions, and sectarian fragmentations in the Middle East, it is highly likely that this new initiative will fail. In the geography of Middle East squeezed by the problems of excessive armament and sectarianism in the Middle Eastern space, which are entirely dependent upon foreign countries in terms of military equipment, it could follow the European Union's “Common European Army” as a model which was successful in achieving their political and economic unification, in order to take a concrete step to this direction. Considering multiplex and multidimensional problems of the Middle East, it is the most reasonable solution that military intervention should be the last resort to resolve the conflicts. Dealing with these problems through diplomatic and peaceful means without resorting to violence, and avoiding foreign interventions and manipulations might be more plausible choice for the region.
