Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the problems faced in the education of children in primary school age living in Turkey as an asylum seeker depending on the opinions of the school administrator, teachers and parents. The study is a qualitative research and designed in survey model. The participants of the research consist of 64 teachers, 15 administrators and 42 parents in Arnavutköy, Gaziosmanpaşa, Esenyurt and Başakşehir districts of Istanbul The data were collected with the help of interview forms and analyzed by content analysis technique. As a result of the study, according to the opinions of the administrators and the teachers, the most important problem regarding asylum-seeking students is the communication problem originating from the insufficiency inTurkish language. The second important problem students experience is adaptation the new culture and new environment. At the end of the research, it was determined that asylum-seeking students were introverted, exhibited aggressive behaviors and grouped among themselves within the school and in the lessons.
