Abstract

Oral narration types show social construction. Looking at these products means that society's view of the world, its beliefs, its psychology, its sociological structure, and so on. It is one of the important ways to see the elements. Folk tales, like all oral narrative genres, are under the influence of many elements in the process of formation. The "sır cariye" which emerges as the result of social repression in narrative, is an important parameter in following this predicament. On the side of the female protagonist, the sır cariye reminds us that there are other functions that are meaningful to take part in and explain in a remarkable way. It is to be seen that the sır cariye is a different personality, as opposed to the way in which the folk tales are shown and functioned in the way of taking place and functioning, and it is almost as if the female protagonist is included in the text as the second self. At this point psychoanalytic analysis comes into play. The purpose of this article is to examine the sır cariye in folk tales with a psychoanalytic method and to reveal the meaning behind this phenomenon, revealing the profound meaningfulness of the society with the understanding of gender.
