Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyse listening texts in teacher guidebooks of Turkish course in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade of secondary school in terms of verbal culture elements. The method of the study is document analysis. Listening texts in total 10 guidebooks which are belonged to different publishing and used by teachers in secondary school were analysed in this study. The most frequently encountered elements in texts analysed are idiom, reduplication and the words with figurative meaning. Aphorism and proverbs were not encountered in any listening texts of books analysed. While dialect feature was not encountered in any texts of 7th grade books analysed, no reflection word was encountered in texts of 8th grade books.
