Abstract

Providing effective, high quality healthcare services of health institutions depends largely on employees' attitudes and behaviors. Employees’ positive attitude and perception towards disabled people is very important for disabled people to get the maximum efficiency from healthcare services. In this research, attitudes of healthcare workers towards disabled people in various hospitals in Konya was studied in terms of organizational culture. Questionnaire consists of 17 questions and includes demographic questions (gender, age, marital status etc.) and questions about views and preferences of healthcare workers towards disabled people. The second part of the questionnaire was developed and the reliability and validity was tested by ÖZİDA in 2009 for the study “How does the community understand the disability?”. This part includes “attitudes towards disabled” scale and consists of 43 five-point Likert-type questions. The third part includes “Efforts of hospital managers to create organizational culture” scale which consists of 14 five-point Likert-type questions. Gathered data was evaluated by SPSS 21.0 using the frequency, t-test, and correlation techniques. According to the results of the t-test analysis; there is statistically significant difference of healthcare workers’ attitudes towards disabled people on the basis of their institution (p=0,00 < 0,05).
