Abstract

Ziya Gökalp is accepted as one of the greatest thinkers in Turkish history. According to Gökalp, national economy model is the most suitable model for Turkish culture. According to this model, which is related to Turkish social structure, accumulation of wealth in the private hands is undesirable. This model is based on the equilibrium of public and private interests principle, therefore favors neither Capitalism nor Socialism. Gökalp advises Turkey to follow a third path which is neither Capitalism nor Socialism. Richard T. Ely was highly religious economist and an influential person in the foundation of American Economic Association. Ely was making publications according to the perspective of German Historical School in America. He was advocating humanization of Capitalism by applying Christian principles as economic ethics.
