Abstract

The aim of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between participation in municipal administration and types of political culture. The political culture specific to the role of the public in the decision-making process and at the later stages was determined by field research conducted in Beylikdüzü. The survey was conducted with 390 people who were selected according to the random sampling method and who live in Beylikdüzü District, and the majority of them were completed by filling in a step-by-step questionnaire with face-to-face interview technique. The propositions and questions in the questionnaire have been added to the questionnaire using the studies in the academic literature. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS program. As a result of the analyzes, the Beylikdüzü people were found to have participatory political cultural specific qualities. It has been determined by the local people that participation in elections is not enough and new participation methods should be developed instead of existing participation methods.
