Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the correlation between perceived administrative ability and affective structure with work engagement of teachers in midle schools.Totally 351 teachers chosen by the random method,who work in 42 state middle schools at Ankara in 2014-2015 academic year,constitute participants of the research. The data were collected using a “Administrative Ability Scale”, an “Positive and Negative Affective Scale” and a “Work Engagement Scale.” In the analyses of the data, means, standart deviation, Pearson Moments Product Correlation Coefficient and Regression Analysis were used. The results mainly showed that perceived administrative abilities and positive affectives are positively associated with work engagement of teachers. Work engagement is negatively associated with negative affectives . Additionally,the regression analysis showed that positive affectives determine teachers’ work engagement more than other variables. The findings are discussed along with some theoretical and practical implications
