Abstract

The aim of the research is to investigate the sixth-grade students’ concept knowledge about angles. The study was conducted through case-study, one of the qualitative research methods. The sample consists of 29 sixth-grade students from a public school in Istanbul at the autumn semester of 2016-2017 academic year. Open-ended 5 questions prepared by researcher to examine concept knowledge about angles were used as data collection tool. The collected data was examined content analysis. The categories of the data created separately according to the students’ answers. It was tried to determine the students’ concept knowledge about angles. Based on the findings, the students have difficulty to explain the definition of angle correctly. Also, according to small numbers of correct answers, most of the students have mistakes about regions separated by angle in plane, comparison of the angles, complementary angles, supplementary angles and adjacent angles.
