Abstract

Ethical leadership is the ability to make ethical decisions, incorporate ethical values into the system structure, and build this system. Organizational cynicism is defined as the self- defence of members of the organization against troubled events in their working environments. The decisions made by the leaders in the working environment, the practices they apply and their relations with the employees can sometimes be perceived as unethical. Unethical perceptions of employees will affect the environment of trust in the organization. Giving inspiration and trust to the employees in the organization is one of the important features that make a leader an ethical leader. Cynical feelings cannot take shelter in organizations where there is trust whereas the number of cynics increases where there is distrust. Organizational cynicism is predicted to emerge with ineffective leadership. The aim of this research is to examine whether the ethical leadership behaviours perceived by hotel employees about their managers are related to their perceptions of organizational cynicism. The research group comprises of 99 hotel employees. Ethical leadership and organizational cynicism scales were used to collect data. In the analysis of the data, t-test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson Correlation Coefficient were applied. Medium-level meaningful relationships in the negative direction were found between hotel employees' ethical leadership and organizational cynicism perceptions.
