Abstract

Scientific researches have revealed that Anatolia has been inhabited by humans and it has hosted many civilizations since the Paleolithic period until today due to its geographical location. Every new research brings new findings to light. Significant findings were reached during the surface surveys carried out in Kırıkkale and Çorum provinces between 2012 and 2015 in order to trace the prehistoric human movements in Turkey. Researches carried out in Kırıkkale province reveal that the history of the region dates back to the oldest Chalcolithic period. In the researches carried out in this province in 2012, Middle Paleolithic findings (250000-45000 BR) were found especially in the district of Bağşılı, and it was determined that the oldest history of the region had dated back to at least 45000 years ago. Researches in Çorum province, on the other hand, revealed very important findings in terms of the historical background of the region. Findings dating back to the Middle Paleolithic period were obtained in Mecitözü-Beyözü Village-Bakla Tepe Locality. Similarly, findings near Çavuşoğlu Village in İskilip district of Çorum province showed that the history of the region had dated back to the Lower Paleolithic period.
