Abstract

Entering of the Ottoman Empire to World War One led war to spread wider area. Ottoman Empire, which fought multiple fronts within its own borders, achieved important successes in some fronts especially Çanakkale (Battle of Gallipoli). In these fronts, Mesopotamian front has an important position because of the victory won in Kut-al-Amara. British opened up a great front in area with intend of keeping under control colonials in Mesopotamia and Eastern. The First Battle of Kut that was a part of this military action was the defeat losing prestige for British as in Çanakkale. After this defeat, General Townshend and British soldiers in his commandership were captured by Halil Pasha. A number of operations were made these prisoners to stay in Ottoman cities. Konya and Aksaray were among these cities. In the upcoming days, a decision was taken to send the British prisoners of war to Bursa and it carried out.
