Abstract

Emotional labor, which became increasingly significant notion in the service sector has defined as express of employees’s emotions in line with corporates expectations. In the study, a correlation between emotional labor and burnout has been seeked. Employees displaying emotions defined by firms may be emotions what employees don.t feel but to display can lead to several negative consequences. Thus, ones being unable to express and unable to create meaning at the workplace create problems such as alienation. The essential goal of this thesis is to investigate the effect of emotional labor level of employees on their alienation level at tourism firms. Since there are just few studies in Turkish setting focusing the link between emotional labor and alienation (selfentranchment and work alienation) this study was considered toTurkish literature of the topic. Due to this goal, a research has been conducted on employees of tourism firms operating in Antalya and the finding revealed that emotional labor has effect on alienation.
