EXAMINING OF THE VIEWS OF STUDENTS LEARNING SECOND LANGUAGE ON THE TEACHING OF FIXED EXPRESSIONS

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze and examine the thoughts of B1 level foreign students who are learning Turkish as a foreign language towards the teaching of fixed expressions. The students were taught 293 fixed expressions for 6 weeks (18 hours). After the instruction, the participants were asked about their thoughts on fixed expressions and their answers were sorted and analyzed. Frequency (f) and percentage (%) values of students’ answers to the questions were analyzed. No statistically significant difference was found between groups in terms of gender (P>0.05). At the end of the study, the students stated that fixed expressions in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language were suitable for B1 level, it was necessary for the students learning Turkish as a foreign language to learn fixed expressions and fixed expressions eased daily communication.
