Abstract

The purpose of the current study is to determine the attitudes of pre-service classroom teachers towards the use of technology in education and the effects of gender, grade level, daily internet use time and the purpose for using the internet on these attitudes. The sampling of the current study is comprised of 88 first-year students and 89 fourth-year students, a total of 177 students, attending the Department of Classroom Teacher Education at the Education Faculty of Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in 2015-2016 academic year. In the study employing the survey model, the data were collected through “Technology Attitude Scale”. The pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards the use of technology were determined by using descriptive statistics, the effect of gender on their attitudes was determined by using independent samples t-test and the effects of the time of internet use and the purpose for using the internet was determined through One-way ANOVA). It was concluded that the pre-service classroom teachers’ attitudes towards the use of technology are negative to a great extent.
