Abstract

Non-work related Internet use at work is an unignorable reality for both companies and employees of today. Whereas employers worry that the company resources will be abused, the company network will get damage or the productivity will decrease; employers who want to do some of their personal tasks via Internet because of long working hours, or those who want to get away from the stress and exhaustion of their work via short breaks consider non-work related Internet use as a right. This study aims to determine the frequency of non-work related Internet use of the employee in private healthcare organizations, and to reveal if non-work related Internet use at work differs with regard to specific demographic features. The current study has been done in Istanbul and Yalova, in September 2016. Results of this study demonstrate that the frequency of non-work related Internet use at work is low in private healthcare organizations. This is a desired result for healthcare organizations. Also, this study found that non-work related Internet use at work does not differ in accordance with gender, age, marital status, education, and position.
