A few legendary televison serials such as Bizimkiler (1989-2002) and Perihan Abla (1986-1988) were produced in the period of TRT monopoly in 1980’s. Turkish television serials substituted Yeşilçam Cinema that had virtually disappeared in 1990’s. Turkish television serials turned into a very important emtia that was being sold to almost all over the world in 2000’s. A television serial inflation, which is alike film inflation experienced in Yeşilçam Cinema in 1960’s, is being experienced in Turkish television serial sector today. The number of productions and the economical magnitude of the sector are being considered as an indicator of the power of the sector as it was in the mentioned period in the past.
