Abstract

Turkey has taken a shape with migrations as a result of her geography; and today came face to face with a mass migration of the Syrian asylum seekers. At the first step, Syrian asylum seekers were seen as “guests”. However, today they do not have a temporary status with the birth of second generation Syrians, and builging up new lifes by staying more than five years. State organs must develop policies to adopt Syrian asylum seekers to the Turkish society. On the other hand, Syrians have become a result of tension in the society with the problems they brought. Syrian asylum seekers will be hot topic with the new parameters they opened. With the Syrian asylum seekers, perceptions of the society about nation-state, citizenship, rights were shaken deeply and new parameters came out. These new parameters are taken issue within the frameworks of arguements around conceptualizing migration, histrocity of migration, and political economy of migration.
