Abstract

The present role of women in the economic life is discussed women do not necessarily perform in economic life. The question how women can take part in economic activities more and how to give them a possibility to take an equal part with men in wealth distribution is searched. Thinking of the modern world, it would be wrong to state that women in the Ottoman society were as effective as men. But it is also wrong to say that women were completely out of economy. In this research, the activities of women in the economic life of the Ottoman Empire are examined on Bursa Court Records from the 17th century.
