This is especially so when considering the period after the Industrial Revolution which has given rise to a new dimension of social dynamic research focusing on the subject of reasons and results of migration. These dimensions gave rise to increased interest in the subject of migration and, subsequently, set the foundation for academic researched regarding the subject. Migration has economic, political and social domains which allows versatility as a subject of interdisciplinary study, examining migration and urbanization, as well as migration and local government issues focused on developments, moving it up on the current agenda. The complementary subjects of migration and local governance have been more inclusive in simultaneous developments with regard to local governance and this new area of scientific research.
