Abstract

Mustafa Kemal, occasionally went on domestic trips after the country gained its independence. Those trips, some of which are long and some of which are short, are significant, as they took place before or after some important events. This is why Ataturk placed importance on visiting places such as municipalities, seats of local government, branches of People’s Republican Party and Foyers Turcs, where he could meet with the local population and exchange ideas with them. This way, while he had the chance to see the implementation of his reforms, he also informed people about upcoming reforms and established a popular opinion. One such domestic trip, and probably the most important one, started on November 17, 1930 and except for a short interval, lasted until March 3, 1931.
