Abstract

Rapid development and widespread usage of mobile technology and mobile devices in recent years have led companies to care about the usage of mobile technologies especially in marketing activities and the coming out of the term “mobile marketing”. One of the newest technologies that is used within mobile marketing is the QR code technology. This study aims to reveal how well this technology is known by Turkish consumers, which type of consumer use this technology and what are the reasons of using this technology based on the results of a survey. In this context, via a survey Turkish consumers who used QR code are analyzed in terms of gender, age, education, income and their reasons of using codes. The results of the survey revealed that consumers who saw and scanned QR codes are over 50%. QR code scanners are generally cultivated young population.
