Abstract

In this study it is aimed to determine the attitudes of university students towards domestic violence. This research was carried out at a state university in Central Anatolia. A total of 868 students from different faculties and (vocational) colleges participated to the study. A four factor ‘Attitudes Towards Domestic Violence Scale’ is used. These factors are; normalizing the violence, generalizing the violence, reasoning the violence and hiding the violence. Data were analyzed by using quantitative analysis techniques. According to the findings of the study, average scores of students in the factor generalizing the violence is the lowest and in the factor reasoning the violence is the highest. There are statistically significant differences between domestic violence and the sex, mother’s occupation, class and number of brothers and sisters of the student. There are no significant differences between domestic violence and the faculty, father’s occupation and hometown of the student. F
