Abstract

Beside having autobiographical features; Hailde Edip Adıvar’s novel Handan, published in 1912, also shows a young woman’s psychological and sociological position. Halide Edip questionizes marriage, love, woman-man relations in her works; Seviye Talip (1910), Handan (1912) ve Son Eseri (1913). Ayşe Kulin’s novel Handan, published in 2014, is the last book in author’s serial which had started with Gizli Anların Yolcusu in 2011. It could be easily seen that Kulin has been inspired from Adıvar when writing Handan. In the same time author, have two Handan faces each other, and with this comparison, puts forward that there has been no progress in woman’s social position, despite a century in woman issue. In this work, woman, love and marrige issues are gonig to be examined in two author’s same named novels and the connection between these two works be revealed.
