Dilthey, exerted strong influence on development of different currents of philosophy and historical science of West in ХХ century. His philosophy is based on dichotomy of natural and humanitarian sciences, so-called the sciences about spirit. Dividing them for the first time he has tried to determine a method of humanitarian sciences as understanding, differing from a method of natural sciences - explanation. Thus, Dilthey’s hermeneutics is conceived as an intermediary between history and philosophy, as a theory of knowledge, logic and method of the humanitarian sciences studying spiritual heritages of the past. In the article is also traced the evolution in sights of thinker, reflecting changes of basic concepts and terminology in his hermeneutics conception and it is marked practical importance of some his ideas in modern humanitarian researches.},author={Arzu HACIYEVA},year={2015},journal={The Journal of Academic Social Science}}
