Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the adolescent’s risk taking behavior which may be conceptualized as both normative and psychologically adaptive or personally destructive, in terms of self-efficacy beliefs and some demographical variables. Based on this aim, The Adolescent Risk-Taking Questionnaire and General Self-Efficacy Scale were applied to 394 high school students between the ages of 14 and 18. Analyses were carried out with IBM SPSS Statistics 17. Results have shown that there is a negative association between adolescents’ risk taking behavior and self –efficacy. In addition the results indicated that the risk taking behavior of adolescents was changed according to age, gender, academic achievement and perceived parents’ attitudes.
