Abstract

Literary movements in each period are in a showdown with the previous generation of itself. It criticizes the previous literary movements or would occur as a response. From the Tanzimat, Turkish literature sampling of the west and this has caused to the development of the area as a response to the source of the Ottoman literature from eastern cultures. The Ottoman literature is mainly focused on the poetry and this has caused old-new debate. In this context, Ottoman poetry has been the subject of debate for many years after the republic and the republic from the Reformation. Despite all the discussions, we see that the influence of Ottoman poetry is reflected on modern poetry in terms of form and content even until today. In other words, the main source of modern poets are the two major branch of the Turkish literature, that are Ottoman and folk poetry tradition. We can clearly see the reflection of these two traditions in the Turkish Cypriot Literature that is an extension of Turkish
