Abstract

Hermes depictions are determined on the coins of 6 cities in Pamphylia such as Aspendos, Attaleia, Lyrbe, Magydos, Perge and Sillyon and this depictins on all coins are classified in two main type; respectively, Standing Hermes and Sitting Hermes. The earliest coin with Hermes figure in Pamphylia between 2nd and 1th century BC and the latest coins are from 253-268 AD which is Gallienus Era. In Pamphylia, Hermes was represented standing or sitting, nude or enwrapping his khlamys into his left arm as a reverse figure of coins. There are no any depictions of Hermes with ram or goat and of bust of Hermes in the region; but it is emphasized characterization of Hermes the messenger of gods and the god interested in trade on the coins of this region.
