Abstract

The attempt to make sense out of human existence and the external world and to narrate these has been the topic not only of science and philosophy, but also of art. In this respect, topics like creation, existence of women and men, have been the most frequently encountered problematic fields. Usually the written works upon the above mentioned problematic fields take myths and sacred books as a resource. Later on we face these resources sometimes repeated as they are in the original form by their reflection on a work of art, and sometimes as a material for the act of change or challenge. In any case, the very striking for humankind topic of the story of Adam and Eve has been skillfully approached and given an aesthetic shape by Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar. In our work we researched the relationship of meanings and connotation values upon which this aesthetic integrity was built by using a semiotic method, and presented the results in the scientific frame.
