Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine how school atmosphere is formed and what it affects according to education directors and teachers’ views. This is a qualitative study and an interview form which was developed by researchers as a data collection tool has been used. 8 questions have been asked and the answers have been recorded in black and white. The questions have been asked to 27 education directors and 90 teachers. The data have been evaluated with descriptive analysis and content analysis. According to the indications coming up, it has been observed that mostly the attitudes and practices of the directors are effective, teachers continually wish a reliable-democratic school atmosphere and they make an effort to form such an atmosphere. With this study it has been noticed that a positive school atmosphere has positive impact on staff motivation and student success.
