Abstract

The Adiyaman basin is situated in the tectonic-orogenic foulded belt of the Southhern part of Turkey Anatolia. It has many geomorphological features due to the fact that this area have been subjected tectonic mevements leading to the overthrust, faulting, folding activities. These tectonic movements produced different geomorphic unites (erosion surface, terraces, alluvial fans) and/or structural topographical forms such as monoclinal structure. Also formed karst landforms on limestone rocks. The Southern Taurus Mountains extending in the northern part of the study area had formed as a result of the Arabian and Anatolian plates collusion. Some metamorphic and/or Mesozoik terrains are found as a nappe on the younger strata. The uplifted areas locating in the eastern part of the study area have been deeply dissected by the streams and rivers connecting to the Atatürk Dam Lake. The materials which transported by fluvial erosion have been accumulated on the syclinal basin and foredeep b
